Good heavens this blog stuff is difficult when there are so many things on your mind that you can't string a single good thought together.

I've been doing a whole lot of thinking lately, if you couldn't tell from all of my very wordy posts as of late.  I'm in for a whole lot of change in the next few months and I just can't stop thinking about it all.  I even wrote an "It's Ok" post for yesterday that I forgot to post...Whoops! That's how much I've been thinking about everything else lately.

All I have really been able to think about is my pending doom. And by doom, I mean basic.

I've got all of these huge expectations of myself. I got a text today from a friend far away.  I guess you could say that he knows me pretty well. He basically told me that I'd better earn whatever I get.  That I need to be the best that I can be and refuse to be handed anything. To work for it.

Now, I'm not about to start getting cocky. I'm not the strongest. I'm not the fastest. Hell, I only weigh 100 lbs on a heavy day, but I've got something that a lot of soldiers don't have. I have motivation. I have  determination...I want more than just a job, a check, tuition for school. Which is much more than a lot of other soldiers can say for themselves.

That being said, I have a lot of big ambitions for basic.

My #1 goal is to finish basic with a 300 APFT. That...is pretty damn ambitions for lil' Katie Girl...
I also am definitely going to go for a leadership position.
And if I don't one, I'll lead in other ways. By example, and helping out the people that need it.

I think that there is so much more to being in the military than a job and a paycheck.

You get out of it what you put into it. And you know what? I would love to get a hell of a lot out of it.
