Why Can't I Just Have Both?

I have talked about all of the great things Las Vegas has to offer, but there are quite a few things that they do not have here that I really miss some days.

Right now in Utah, it's fall. The leaves are changing. The mountain sides are turning from shades of green to shades of red, orange, and yellow. The sunsets take your breath away and the air is crisp and cool. All you want to do is get a chai tea from Beans & Brews and cuddle up with your wooby.

Speaking of Beans & Brews, I had no idea it was just a Utah business until I started living here...I no longer get to have the most delicious Chai in the world in the mornings before work...It's tragic.

Here, everything is still green. I had to wear a jacket this morning, but the days are still sunny and warm.  I'll be excited for the day that I get to wear some boots and a sweater and it actually looks appropriate for the weather. Yes, that will be an awesome day.  Unfortunately, that Beans & Brews thing will never resolve its self.

I just really hope the days of dressing like this have not come to an end...

One of my favorite pass times at home was strolling through the Walmart...yeah Walmart in Las Vegas...There isn't one on every other major road like there is at home.  That means that when I'm too scared to get out of my car at the one on Tropicana--Yes, that acutally happened--I don't have many other options. At least not that I know of...I guess that means that I miss the security of living being in a generally safe area all the time.

I'm also going to miss the crunch of the snow under my feet as I walk out to the car.

I will not, however, miss scraping the frost off my windshield in the morning...That was the worst.

I miss my mom's spaghetti...It's not anything spectacular, but every time I came home to find out my mom was making spaghetti for dinner, I was instantly happier. I also really miss sitting at the table with my family talking about how our day went...

I miss cooking.
So. Bad.

I'm going to miss the annual fall trip to the pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving...

I miss my family of course. I suppose that one goes without saying. Every time I leave them I miss them. I love being independent and away from home, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to play with a cute lil baby or take my sissy to the mall...even though she's impossible to shop with, I still miss it.

Being away makes you grow up. It makes you a big kid real quick. I learned that when I was in basic training. I am an adult.

I have my own life separate from the one my family lives...

Why can't I just have both? like...now.

What You Miss Out On

When I was in basic, I published a post about being homesick.

Yes, I was a little bit homesick while I was there, but it was different. I didn't have the ability to talk to them, so I wasn't really seeing what all I was missing out on.

Now I have the opportunity to see what's going on at home all the time and it makes me miss it a whole lot more.

This weekend my family was a bluegrass festival that was the ultimate escape for me last year. It's one that is close to home and so much fun. I was so sad that I missed out on it...

It was Kallie's first Bluegrass Festival.

It seems like she was really digging it. Sound asleep the cute lil' bit...

Also, my little sister played in the instrument contest. She played in the open (advanced) division for the first time this year.  I was so excited for her because I knew that she had been practicing so hard. My mom called me at the time that she went on and I got to listen to her play. It was so incredible. I cried when she was finished. I was so very sad that I couldn't be there, but I was happy to have been able to at least listen to her play.

It's so dang hard to be away from home! I still have a good 7 weeks left before I get to leave here. If I'm lucky I get to see my family a little bit before then. I can't wait to be home...even though I'm going to be leaving again right after I get there. It's going to be different to be able to head home whenever I really need to. I just hope this homesickness takes a vacation sometimes soon. Until then, I'll just wrap up in my wooby and blog about it all...

Homesick

Hey everyone, Greetings from Oklahoma, though I am far away and do not have access to the computer, I am continuing to write posts and have them published for me. Feel free to leave comments :)
They will be passed on to me. I hope you are all having a great new year!

I'm in Oklahoma and I miss home.

I knew that I would be homesick, but holy moly I am homesick!

Salt Lake has been my home for my entire life. I've traveled to Italy and to Mexico, I've seen places all over the western United States, I've enjoyed what I've seen around me in all of these settings, but I'm always so happy to return home and to see everything that is so familiar.

I miss my bed.

I miss my wooby.

I miss Brittons, a little mom and pop restaurant at home...All I can think about some morning at chow is going to breakfast there with my family.

I miss the mountains. Oh goodness...I miss the mountains so much.

I'm going to miss watching the Winter melt into Summer (yes, melt into Summer...spring doesn't really get the chance to exist in Utah)

I miss my family and my messy house.

I miss my clothes! I am so tired of being in this damn costume.

I miss typing out an awesome blog post and clicking publish then watching the comments roll into my email.

I miss my guitar and mandolin...

And I miss my phone. Good heavens, I miss my phone...

I miss pinning endlessly when I can't sleep.

I miss sleeping late and 20 minute showers...

I miss Beans & Brews...

And I miss being home. Just walking into my house. Sitting there, doing nothing for a while and just feeling all the comfort of being in my own house...

When you leave home, what do you miss?
