Pizza is a food group, right?

I have had a significant amount of trouble coming up with something to talk about today.  I've been trying really hard to be one of those 5 days a week blog types that actually make it point to put pen to paper and say something big and important. Problem is, I can't really think of anything big and important.

So instead, I'll guess I'll just share some random things about me, because let's face it, I'm a blogger and I love to tell you all about me.

I have a slight obsession with Doctor Who but I'm refusing to watch the last season. I don't want it to end. And my English professor looks exactly like David Tennant. And he's British. And his name is David.

My new blog is going to be called "Chalk it Up to Better Luck"
someecards.com - I get more cleaning done in the ten minutes before someone comes over than I do in a week.

and I'm not nearly as messy as a I used to be...

I believe that laundry doesn't need to be done until you have exhausted every possible wardrobe option and worn everything the maximum number of time until it must be washed.

I can literally watch Pitch Perfect every night for a month and not get sick of it.In fact, I'll probably just love it more.

I learned most of my life lessons from Mr. Feeney. And I'm not the only one
I will also get goose bumps and cry every time I hear him say this last line.

I have a wanderlust that will likely never be fully satisfied.

I change my plans on a near weekly basis because  I change on a weekly basis.

If I'm listening to the radio in my car and a song comes on that may slightly relate to me, I feel like the universe is speaking to me. But get this...I don't believe in signs.

I will eat nearly any type of frozen pizza product...
I just barely figured out that you can embed IG images and I'm about to become an embedding fool...

I have an odd but undeniable love for vintage pyrex dishes...

I used to be able to read 300 page books daily.  Don't judge me.

I prefer a cold can of coke in the morning to coffee, orange juice or really any other beverage

See I told you, It's going to happen. I'm an embedding fool...

I get a ridiculous amount of satisfaction out of people re-pinning something that I pinned. The other day, I pinned something that received over 200 re-pins. You read that correctly. 200.

And I'm pretty sure you guys have got to be tired of learning all these random things about me, so I guess I'll let you go.

By the way, I think you should go over to Whitney's blog and check out her new blogging T-shirts. They're freaking genius...just sayin'.

I Have A Confession...

I am a Halloween Scrooge.

I have never liked Halloween. Not ever.  That's not to say I haven't had some good Halloweens. There have certainly been years that turned out not to be the worst thing ever, but I really just hate Halloween.

In Utah it's always really cold by the end of October. Trick-or-treating was miserable. I don't even like candy. It hurts my teeth. The only thing I ever looked forward to was eating chili with saltine crackers at my grandpa's house each year.

And I'd watch Hocus Pocus too. That's alright with me.

It looks like I'm not the only one that doesn't like Halloween. Erin from Living In Yellow has created a link up for today dedicated to all of the things that we would rather be doing than celebrating Halloween.

I would so much rather be...

1. Working out!  The gym is going to be deserted today.  The gym on campus is very crowded with people who do not know how to work out that do more socializing that actual working out. They take up space and make my work out more difficult...They won't be there tonight!

2.  Painting my nails. I'm a compulsive nail-painter. My nails are a different color each week. When I got to paint my nails for the first time after basic training it was like I had just had my first sip of regular coke after drinking diet for half of my life...

3.  Playing Candy Crush. I would far rather play this game where I crush candies and not eat them. But unfortunately I need someone to send me some tickets before I can do anymore candy crushing...

4. Making bitstips comics. Yep. That's real life. I downloaded bitstrips. It's totally a thing and it's actually  quite fun to create overly-dramatic comics of myself.

5. Pinning.  I have been doing an outrageous amount of pinning lately. I'm looking forward to my hair growing out, having a kitchen to cook in, and my new blog at the start of the new year!

Speaking of pinning...have you pinned it to win it?

Contributing Member of Society

Wow...Is it really Monday again? That always makes me a little sad inside...

So I decided to go straight for the defense.

Today I did this crazy things where I got up and I dressed as if I was a contributing member of society.  I put on my favorite dress, some socks that don't really match it, and some booties. Get this. I even put on...wait for it...Make up! I know...a real #OOTD It's a Christmas miracle.

I figure as a sweet single lady in this world, maybe I should try to be cute every now and then? Or maybe...I just wanted to wear my booties. That's probably it.

I won't lie, I don't understand why the front camera on the iPhone is always so grainy, but whatever...

I've had this dress since I was in the 8th grade. I'm actually surprised that it still fits comfortably. I have a dress I wore at my high school graduation that I can't even consider zipping because I will stop breathing...

Forgive me. This is before I knew about tweezing eye brows and apparently being cute at all because this is an awful photograph. At least my friend looks good!

I guess I'm just glad I finally learned how to take what I've got and work it.  I really don't know why that dress doesn't fit...I'm way more fit now than I was then.  Let's blame it on all of my awesome-ness not being able to fit into one dress.

Speaking of awesome...

Have you checked out my sidebar lately? It's got a few new things going on.
Did you know that I'm on Bloglovin'? Well now you do! If you aren't following me there, go ahead and take a minute to click it.

Also, I have several new sponsors! Today I'd like to introduce you to Jenn from Party Of One.

Party of One
I love to read her blog and I think you will too. She's an awesome single gal just like me working to make it in a world filled with parties of two. Take a minute to go and check her out.

Katie Lately

I suppose it has been a while since I have really updated ya'll on me

So what's new with me that isn't filled with deep meaning and planning and insanity?

As I have said before, I live in Las Vegas now. That is definitely new!
I cannot stay away from dessert...I never used to like sweets, but all of a sudden? Cheese cake, carrot cake, chocolate cake...it's all I think about.
Now that I have one tattoo, I want 5 or 6 more.

I still really love to work out.  There is an awesome free gym for students with an indoor track...it's amazing.

I'm a Student...Whoa. It's still weird to say that out loud.
I still love nail polish.

Recently, I have actually really been into the colors pink and purple...I used to really hate pink.
You know that song, "We Can't Stop"? Well I can't stop....playing it over and over again.

Speaking of music, Spotify? Best thing that ever happened to this universe next to Netflix and Hulu.

I have decided to be an Anthropology Major.

My career goal is to work in a museum. I want to be a curator or something of the sort.

I haven't really made many friends here yet, but I'm not minding just being alone. It's kind of nice.

I feel this insane need for adventure...I have a newfound want for something well new.

I love being and Auntie. So. Much.

I'm missing home and I miss my family but overall, I am so happy to be experiencing a new place and having a whole different lifestyle. I think it's really good for me and for my life in the future to have had many different setting in which I've had to live my life. Something tells me that this is just the beginning...

Airborne and Wander-lusting...

It has been a while since I have joined in on the Sunday Social, so .......here it goes!
Sunday Social
Head over to Ashley and Neely's blog to join in.
1. What is something you've always wanted to do but are afraid of?
This might sound cliche, but really want to sky dive. Not only that, I want to go Airborne...But as far as I know, they aren't really looking to throw Chemical Soldiers out of airplanes.

2. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I will hopefully have my bachelors degree in Anthropology/Art History/History or something. Maybe I'll be working some exciting job in a Museum where I get to travel or teaching.
Maybe I'll be married? Or at least in a relationship. With who? Your guess is as good as mine.

3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2013?
I have a lot of excitement in store for me this fall. I get to see a friend come home from deployment, I have some exciting Drill weekends in store, I'm starting college, and I'm going to be living in a new place, making new friends, and having new adventures.

4. What are your hopes for your blog?
Oh man...my bliggity blog. I hope that people continue to latch onto the things that I have to say. I feel like very...helpful life lessons can be taken from my blog. Maybe I'm just full of hot air, but I think I have learned a lot and I have really come a long ways. I think that other could really learn from me if they tried to.

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
NO! Although Salt Lake will always be the place that I call home, I have got to be somewhere else.  I have got some serious wanderlust eating away at me. If I don't get out and go see more places and experience new things, I just might go crazy!

6. What is your morning routine?
As of right now, I really don't have a morning routine. I'm not working, and I haven't started school yet, so basically, I just get up when I want to. If I have something to do, I'll take a shower and get ready. If I don't, I'll take a shower and not get ready. I deal with my school monies sitch., and I babysit my most adorable lil' niece and make her wear sunglasses...

The Facts of Me

When I saw this on Whitney's blog, I honestly could not resist.

As bloggers, we think that everyone wants to know all about out. And can you blame us? We write about ourselves and our day to day life, you all leave comments, like our links, tweet @ us, and you reinforce the narcissism.

So hold on to your keyboards friends, you're about to learn "The Facts of Me".

I love baseball caps, but I can't wear them the right way for very long. I always end up flipping them backwards.  Something I seem to have passed onto my lil' sissy.

When I sit at the dinner table I put my feet up on my chair. It makes my mother crazy, but I do it every time...

I read the TV guide menu deal in one glace and get annoyed when others don't.

And while I'm talking about TV, I don't like commercials, but I really hate it when people flip back and forth between two shows. You always miss parts of both. Just watch the damn commercial!

I have a secret dream to be in a band like the Dixie Chicks. Except better, bigger, and not liberal.  We've already got the makings right here!

I talk...a lot. Seriously, think of your most chatty friend and times that by two and you have me.

I hate pants.  When I walk into my house, my pants come off with my shoes. It's the reason that I wear dresses all the time, in fact.

I used to be afraid of ants. Then when I got old enough to realize that they're barely a centimeter long...I learned how to burn them with a magnifying glass. (I promise I'm not a serial killer...just a pyro...)

Although I work hard to look seem very confident, I am pretending most of the time but...I whole heartedly believe in this:

I love roller coasters. Like love them. I would ride the loopey one in California Adventure a zillion times in a row if I could.

I am...obsessed with Harry Potter. Yep. I'm one of those people.

I want to be a bar tender. That's not my lifelong dream, just something I need to do and cross off the list.

I think I'm really funny. And sometimes, I think it really is true, but some people don't seem to appreciate it.

I always want things that I can't have.

My backyard is I-15 and the train tracks. I wrote A song about how much I hate living next to both.

And last but not least, I want you to enter my giveaway! (nice segue right?!)

It only runs until next week, so be sure to get your name in the ring!

Sunday Social [Blogging Edition]

Hey there blog! It's pretty dang cold in Utah today...I'm sitting here at work, sipping my chai and all bundled up in a blanket! I hope you (yes you!) wherever you are, it's a little bit warmer and you aren't combatting with stupid drivers who don't understand snow driving, snow plows that are obviously confused, and cars that have frost on the inside

Sunday Social

It's been forever since I've done the Sunday Social, so I thought I might give it a shot today! I'm linking up with Neely & Ashley to tell you all about my bloggy!

A Long Time Comin'

Remember that cool giveaway? It's still happening!  Enter now for your chance to win the most amazing living locket!

And now, for my deep and thoughtful post about what tomorrow holds.

Usually, about this time of year I would write some good stuff about my new years resolutions. But I won't be doing that this year.

I have got an overwhelming year ahead of me and I don't think that I need to put pressure on myself to accomplish a set of 10 or so little resolutions.

That's not to say that I don't have high hopes for the coming year. I do, and there are certainly things that I am looking forward to.  It is going to be a big year of change and excitement. I will finally get to do things that have been a long time coming, and I can't believe how close I am to actually getting to do it!

I don't know how many times I've said this, but it's a lot, I'm sure of it. Life, seriously, comes at you so fast! There is no way to know what tomorrow may bring. Making big goals and shooting for the moon is great, but good heavens, so much stuff gets in the way of the big stuff.

So, instead of making big plans for the future, I've laid some ground work.  I've got some school applications in, I'm packing up my bedroom, and I'm moving on.

I'm leaving this life that I have now and creating a new one for myself.

I guess that sort of is my New Years resolution.

Start over. Be better. Be bigger. Be everything you ever wanted to be and more. Don't disappoint myself. Love myself. Keep my head up and smile. Take a step back and appreciate what I have instead of bitching over what I don't.  Embracing the suck and taking it all one day at a time, because that is all that I can do.

I resolve to be...Me.
The very best possible version of...me.

Mystery Host!

I am so dang excited to be the Mystery Host for the Wednesday Walkabout! I love this link up because you don't have to post anything specific. You just write whatever you feel like and you get to meet new bloggers in the process! I love it and I am too excited to be a part of it this week.

I have not been blogger of the year these past few days...I haven't been busy exactly, but for some reason, getting my blog stuff done has been really difficult.  But don't worry! I'm getting to it now :)

I have been up to so much though! I have been making Christmas gifts.
I got the cutest pedicure ever.
I bought Pitch Perfect...And watched it twice already.
Searched for Magic Mike on DVD...Still can't find it.
Learned a new song (The Cave)

I had a crazy Saturday where I hung out with 4 different people and drank yet another hot drink! I'm doing so well with this "embracing the suck" thing.
I discovered a song that is helping me keep my head up.
I ate at my favorite lunch place...That pulled pork is the best I've ever had...
And, best of all, I got to see one of my best friends! She's a Marine and lives in NC so getting to see her every once in a while is always awesome.

You see why it has been so hard to sit down and blog? So much has been going on. It's hard to be 19, but it also rocks...There is so much out there to be experienced and I am lucky that I get to.  I' say quite often that I don't have friends, that I never had anything to do, that I am a loner...In some ways, I am just that. But I can't say that I'm not blessed and I don't have some wonderful people and things in my life.

I have a lot to learn about life and what it means to me. I have even more to learn about just...me in general. I don't know exactly who I want to be or what I want to do, but I'm doing my very best to figure it out, and that has to be enough for now, whether I like it or not... That was sort of a random lil' tangent there, but...oh well!

Oh and check out my buddy's blog! He's new to blogging, but I find myself extremely entertained with what he write and the way he writes it. Maybe you will be too!

New here? Please introduce yourself! Looking for a neat sponsoring opportunity? Check out this page.

Different is the polite way of saying weird.

Growing up...It's weird. It's like one day, you're a teenager. All you are worried about is getting through the day that you are currently living. The next day, you wake up and you have a million responsibilities sitting in your lap waiting for you to sort them out.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, I've been a "grown up" since I was ten years old. Sure, I did silly things, played pretend, glued everything together, cut many things apart and lots of other little kid things, but I was just...different.  In this case, different is the polite way of saying weird...Ima just let my freak flag fly.

I like old things. I'm pretty sure that I was born in the wrong time period. Lots of people say that...but I think that most of those people are just trying to sound cool... at the risk of sounding like a hipster, I'd say that I thought I was stuck in wrong time period before that was the cool thing to say.

I've already gotten very off track...I meant for this to be a short and sweet post about how I know that I've really started to become a grown up.

These all say "you" but they are fairly specific to me...you is just a good pronoun for this sitch.

You know you're a grown up when...

You go no where near the young adult section at the Barnes & Noble.  Instead you browse the classics and non-fiction (I know, I'm a werido, I love non-fiction...)

You don't order hot chocolate at the coffee place...

You no longer shop once a year for school, but at least once every pay period...

You look at price tags and say shit like "I could make that for cheaper!"

You swear in front of your parent and you don't feel like you're going to get into trouble.

You begin to make choices after making a pros & cons list instead playing rock, paper, scissors with your sister.

When you go to the grocery store, there's not a pizza Lunchable in the cart at check out

When you buy a movie at the store, it's not animated (okay, I love animated movies, but I watch them far less often)

When you are thinking about gifts that you'd like for Christmas, you find yourself wanting socks, a toothbrush, and pyrex dishes for your future home.

You get mail that says your actual name on it and not "to the parents or guardians of..."

You don't procrastinate nearly as much.

You think back to high school wondering why you thought it was so hard. You could ace it if you did it another time around.

You don't think "well, I don't have to work tomorrow, so I can stay up all night" You just go to bed because you're exhausted and life as an adult is hard...

And...I could go on and on about the ways that I am old lady, but I don't want ya'll to think that I'm not cool... (I'm not, but I think that I can at least pretend that I am cool on the bliggity blog)

----------------------------

This day has been...interesting.

First, I got up a little late (I've been staying up way too late re-watching Grey's Anatomy) and had to rush to get ready. I had to stop and get gas and I decided to grab myself some hot chai at the Beans & Brews. Drinking tasty hot drinks is all part of me trying to embrace the suck that is Utah in the winter time...

Well, the line at the Beans & Brews was way longer than it looked, so I started to get all anxious that I was going to be late, then I looked in my lap and realized that my badge wasn't on...so I had to go back home and get it. Luckily, I made it on time, but not before spilling my chai all over in my car...Good one, Katie.

Luckily, there was still quite a bit left in the cup because I opted for the 20 oz...but still, I spilled hot, sticky liquid all over. Not cool.

Then we got slapped with all these new rules at work. Some people have abusing their privileges of not being watched like a hawk...so now everyone with my job title has to report what we're doing every moment of the day...Awesome? Not really. Of course, that is part of life, dealing with rules, but it's annoying that people had to ruin it for those that follow them.

I also decided today, that even though I don't believe in astrology and horoscopes and the like, sometimes, they tell me some good shit. Read this and tell me that this is something I didn't need to hear? Oh, you can't? I thought so...it's kinda dead on.  If you know anything about me, you know that today's horoscope almost made a believer out of me...(still a skeptic though.)

Yesterday, I was listening to this Mumford and Sons song and I started wondering why I don't just listen to them all the time...They speak to me and their composition is fantastic. If you don't listen to them or you've never listened to them, I recommend you look into them. They rock.

And...tonight, I'm taking my adopted little brother out to dinner and a movie. Okay, so he's not really my adopted little brother. He's J's little brother, but I wish he was mine, so we're pretending. I'm really excited to hang out with him, but now I have to go clean up the spilled chai so he can ride  in the car. That's just how things go for me!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend!
